Size–frequency distribution of shallow landslides in the Black Forest, Germany

چکیده

Landslides are a major hazard in mountainous regions, represent threat to human life, and cause substantial economic costs. While some landslide assessments, including hazards maps, available for Germany, their spatial coverage is not uniform. In the Black Forest, several landslides have recently attracted public attention, but this region has received limited consideration literature date. This study focuses on pattern size distribution of soil-borne submountainous valley Menzenschwand. A combination remote sensing, geophysical surveying, geotechnical testing was used map characterize inventory two selected hillslopes. statistical analyses, we observe larger proportion small-scale with below 100 m2 than usually reported similar studies. effect may be related low cohesion soil (glacial deposits). As result, cutoff at large sizes compared expected power-law tail found. maximum found about 1100 m2, largest should theoretically least 2500 95% probability. The probably due thickness, where 50% considered area depth bedrock 1 m or less. For location, result suggests that an increase frequency intensity rainstorms predominantly frequency, without increasing landslides. more general implication, contribution total overestimated if thickness considered, particular present-day projected future scenarios.

Effects of forest cover, topography, and sampling extent on the measured density of shallow, translational landslides

[1] We use regionally available digital elevation models and land cover data, calibrated with groundand photo-based landslide inventories, to produce spatially distributed estimates of shallow, translational landslide density (number/unit area). To discern effects of land use, we focus on resolving landslide density relationships with forest cover. We account for topographic variability between...

Distribution of radionuclide in the forest soils (Western Ghats-India)

Background: The presence of radionuclides in the soil, measures need to be taken to minimize the radiation dose to humans. It is mostly gamma-emitting radionuclides that contribute to the radiation dose in long term behavior of these radionuclides in soil may determine the extent to which such countermeasures need to be applied. Materials and Methods: The activity concentration of these radionu...

Modelling Shallow Landslides within the context of a Distributed Framework for Multi-Risk Assessment of Forest Fire Hazards

The MEDIGRID project aims to use distributed GRID technology to integrate natural hazard models, maintained independently at different centres in Europe, into a single system, accessible to users over the internet. As an example, the SHETRAN hydrology, soil erosion and landslide model can receive input from a separate fire propagation model and in turn can provide data to a vegetation regenerat...
